The Power of Juice

I don’t usually make January 1 resolutions, but am always on a quest to eat more fruit and vegetables; this time of year seems as good as any to remind myself to eat and drink better.  One of my favorite ways to start the day is with a fresh, usually green, juice.  I love my Acme juicerator juicer–although I’m very excited to have received a Vitamix (finally) this past holiday season.  While I’m still experimenting with the Vitamix, I’ve been putting the juicer into overdrive. There’s no real recipe for this, just try to use the freshest (and organic, if possible) produce.  I’d love to know what your favorite combos are.  Here are some of my favorites:

cucumber+celery+pineapple+ginger

pineapple+coconut water+basil

orange+carrot+apple

beet+apple+ginger

kale+mint+cucumber+Asian pear

And some great posts from around the Web…

Thank you so much for the mention, Kim! Happy New Year. Miss you and sending you hugs from NYC. I love green juices and adding fresh mint is my favorite way to add a touch of sweetness!

While I love the Vitamix, stick with the juicer. For making juice the Vitamix makes it way too frothy.

That’s good to know. Thanks, Chad. What’s your favorite Vitamix recipe these days?

Kim, we must have been on the same wave length! I bought a Breville juicer a few weeks ago. My favorite so far I’m calling ‘Oh So Orange’. It’s a combination of sweet potato, orange, carrot, and ginger. Very yummy!

      Hi Christa,

I’ve never juiced sweet potatoes and I have a friend who includes sweet potato in her juices. I’ll have to try your combination; sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing.
